Dhikala Zone | Corbett National Park

1. Wildlife and Flora

The Dhikala Zone is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including tigers, elephants, leopards, barking deer, sambar, and wild boar. Bird watchers can also enjoy spotting hornbills, kingfishers, and migratory birds.

The flora of Dhikala includes lush sal forests, grasslands, and riverine habitats, all contributing to its rich biodiversity.

2. Safari Experience

Jeep Safari

The most exclusive safari experience in Dhikala is the jeep safari. However, a night stay inside the zone is mandatory for booking a jeep safari.

Canter Safari

For day trips, the Canter safari is available. This is a larger vehicle that accommodates multiple people and provides access to various parts of the zone.

3. Stay Options

The Dhikala Forest Rest House is the most iconic stay option within the park, located on the banks of the Ramganga River. Accommodation is basic yet comfortable, offering a rustic experience.

Booking for the Dhikala zone must be done well in advance, typically 45 days or more. Early booking is recommended due to high demand.

4. Best Time to Visit

Winter (November to February): This is the best time to visit for wildlife viewing as the weather is pleasant, and animal sightings are easier.

Summer (March to June): Wildlife sightings increase as animals move toward water sources, but the heat can be intense.

5. Accessibility

The Dhikala Zone is accessible via the Dhangari Gate, which serves as the primary entry point. Only a limited number of visitors are allowed per day to ensure the preservation of the wildlife and ecosystem.

6. Restrictions

Entry Permit: A permit is required to enter the Dhikala Zone, and entry is restricted to visitors who have booked a night stay.

Night Stay Requirement: A night stay is mandatory for engaging in the jeep safari. This limits the number of people and vehicles inside the park to reduce ecological stress.
