The Bijrani Zone, located near Ramnagar, Uttarakhand, is one of the most popular zones in Jim Corbett National Park. Known for its rich wildlife, scenic beauty, and opportunity to spot Bengal tigers, it attracts nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts from all over the world.
Bijrani boasts a diverse landscape with dense Sal forests, open grasslands, and water streams, creating a prime area for wildlife sightings. The terrain is slightly drier compared to the Dhikala Zone but equally stunning.
Tigers, elephants, leopards, deer (spotted deer, sambar, barking deer), and sloth bears are commonly spotted. Birdwatchers will also enjoy the rich birdlife of this zone.
The Bijrani Zone is open from October 15 to June 30. For the best wildlife sightings, plan your visit between November and March.
Morning and afternoon jeep safaris are available, offering a close experience with the park's wildlife. Safari timings are typically:
Morning Safari: 6:00 AM – 9:30 AM (approx.)
Afternoon Safari: 2:30 PM – 6:00 PM (approx.)
The Amdanda Gate, located a few kilometers from Ramnagar, serves as the entry point to the Bijrani Zone.
Stay options include Forest Rest Houses (FRHs) like Bijrani FRH and Malani FRH, offering basic facilities and a unique experience in the heart of the forest. Alternatively, visitors can stay in Ramnagar and visit the zone for day safaris.
Advance bookings can be made online through the official Uttarakhand Forest Department website or authorized agents. Bookings open 45 days in advance for Indian nationals and 90 days in advance for foreign nationals. Ensure you have ID proof, a passport-sized photo, and details of all members for the booking.
